About Kenia

Write-In Candidate With Real roots.
Real leadership.

I'm Kenia Peraza — a proud write-in candidate, wife, mother, and California native who has lived the experiences that shape District 8 families every day. I know what it means to face rising costs, worry about your children's schools, and hope for leaders who put people before politics.

As a San Ysidro School Board Trustee, I didn't just show up — I stood up. When I uncovered millions in unexplained expenditures and fiscal mismanagement, I demanded answers. My communications are now formally protected under California's Labor Code as Protected Whistleblower Communications. I am not a politician. I am a truth-teller — and I'm bringing that fight to City Hall.

What we'll fight for
together

Supporting Our Local Businesses

Small businesses are the backbone of District 8. Kenia will champion policies that reduce red tape, support local hiring, and create an environment where our neighborhood businesses can grow, compete, and thrive — keeping dollars in our community.

Fiscal Accountability & Transparency

As Trustee, Kenia was the only board member to formally demand a vendor breakdown for a $4.79 million surge in unexplained expenditures. Every contract and every dollar at City Hall will be justified, lawful, and serve the community — not special interests.

Ending Management Override

Nearly $10 million in vague "professional services" was approved without proof of lawful authorization. Kenia will end the practice of bypassing internal controls and ensure no public funds are ever spent without full transparency and proper Board approval.

Protecting Taxpayer Dollars

Kenia took direct action to recover $3,000 in public funds that were improperly paid for an unauthorized investigation. At City Hall, she will apply that same relentless standard — every dollar in District 8 is accounted for, always.

Affordable Housing & Cost of Living

Tackling the housing crisis head-on with practical plans that keep San Diego families — especially District 8 residents — in their homes and neighborhoods without displacement.

Strong, Safe Schools & Neighborhoods

Every child deserves a safe, quality education and every family deserves safe streets. Kenia will invest in schools, community programs, and trust-based public safety for District 8.

Economic Opportunity for All

Supporting local businesses, job creation, and workforce development so that District 8 families can build a stable future right here in San Diego — without being priced out.

Tijuana Sewage Emergency: Air, Land & Water

The cross-border sewage crisis is a direct threat to the health of District 8 families. Kenia will fight for federal resources, binational accountability, and immediate remediation to protect our coastlines, our air, and our communities from this ongoing public health emergency.

Chollas Creek Flooding & Stormwater Infrastructure

Chronic flooding along Chollas Creek puts homes and families at risk every storm season. Kenia will push for long-overdue investment in stormwater infrastructure, drainage improvements, and creek restoration to protect District 8 neighborhoods from preventable flood damage.

running for office.

$4.79M
Unexplained Surge

Kenia was the only Trustee to formally demand a vendor breakdown for a $4.79 million spike in operating expenditures under "Professional/Consulting Services" — money that disappeared without a transparent explanation.

$10M
Unapproved Services

The Board approved nearly $10 million in vague professional services with no proof of lawful authorization and no public justification — a pattern of management override Kenia has consistently opposed and exposed.

CA Labor Code
Legally Protected

After demanding the return of $3,000 in improperly paid public funds, Kenia's communications were formally designated as Protected Whistleblower Communications under California Labor Code — making her the only such candidate running in San Diego County.

"I am not a politician — I am a truth-teller. When I raised the alarm about the District's financial crisis, I became a target. I did it anyway. Send a representative who has proven they will fight for you, even when it's uncomfortable."

— Kenia Peraza
